The carrier's latest push centers on three distinct paths to hardware savings. Customers on the Experience More or Experience Beyond plans can secure a standard iPhone 17 by trading in an eligible older device. Those looking for the iPhone 17 Pro can bypass the trade-in requirement entirely if they switch to T-Mobile and port their existing number over to the premium Experience Beyond plan. Additionally, the base iPhone 17e is available to new customers joining almost any T-Mobile plan without requiring a device trade-in.
While the handsets are marketed as free, the offer does not cover all associated costs. T-Mobile requires customers to pay applicable sales taxes upfront, alongside a $35 device connection fee for each transaction. These promotions arrive as Apple emphasizes the iPhone 17's integration with its latest artificial intelligence suite, a selling point that differentiates the new hardware from older iterations like the iPhone 12 or 13. Mashable’s Stan Schroeder has highlighted the device's capability, noting that the base model now mirrors the performance standards previously reserved for the Pro series.
